Twyford St Mary's PTA

We believe the PTA exists to benefit and enrich the school days of our children.  Fund raising to enable us support activities and initiatives is crucial as well as a chance to meet other families socially. Please email us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. with any comments/suggestions.

The committee is open to any parent/career who wants to join in, there are a few formal roles as we are a registered charity currently held as below and these individuals would be delighted to chat to you about any aspect of the PTA.

Chair:  Kate Pryde

Vice Chair: Duncan Pryde

Treasurer: Lucy Hutchin

Secretary: Anna Cox

A HUGE THANK YOU for all your support for the PTA this year to date. At the AGM this week we reviewed the activities and accounts from the last academic year. It is phenomenal to see that we raised a staggering £9400. Thank you all.

How did we spend the money? The biggest outlay is the continued funding of the weekly R&R sports sessions for all children from year 1-6 which ensures expert sports skills from professional coaches. The most exciting spend was the play trail on Ballard’s Close. With match funding from the Parish Council it bought the cost down significantly for us. Children from the village are able to enjoy this at all times, not just during school time, which is fantastic. We also give the school £10 per child for school trips which subsides the class trips during the year to reduce outlay for each individual trip. Other smaller spends included the year 6 leavers party, sports kit for the tennis team, some play equipment and supporting gardening in golden time.

As well as on going R&R funding and school trip subsidization, this year we are focusing on supporting the school in it’s cultural education. We are paying for the weekly singing session Hampshire Music Service now provide on a Thursday for all pupils. Mrs Chapman has plans for further music, artistic and cultural events, which we have agreed to support so watch this space for news! Excitingly we will also hope to have the Hampshire Wildlife Trust coming into school to work with the children during golden time. With parent volunteers we will be able to offer this to up to 60 children each week (30 from KS1 and 30 from KS2). More details to follow . . . . .

All of this can’t happen without our committee of parent volunteers and particularly the formal roles of chair, treasurer and secretary. I am indebted to Lucy & Anna for their energy and commitment and delighted to say they have both agreed to another year on the committee. Entering my 3rd year as chair I think it is time for new blood and am looking for a successor. I realize some of you might not understand what the role entails and hence reluctant to step up. The bottom line is you can make it what you want and it really is not too time consuming – I will send out a ‘job description’ via class reps but please consider if you can help this vital part of school life continue.
